The Chignon, close relative of the Hipster Bun is done in a similiar fashion, just in a different place on the head. You can wear your Chignon on top of the head, in the center back or to the side.  If you’re wearing it to the side, I would suggest low, loose and just below and behind the ear.  There are many variations, the epitome of modern style is messy with a bit of texture. You can personalize this look by adding your own headband, decorative comb or fresh flower. A simple black band will do or if you’re feeling a little fancier check out these beauties from Colette Malouf and Dominique Duval.  The genius part of the style on the video is, the Goody Zig Zag headband he puts in underneath the black headband, which is very hard to find.  This is the new version of that classic peice.

To  create this look you will need:

– Day old or slept in hair adds great texture

– Hair pins that match the shade of your hair

– Elastic ponytail holder

– Headband or accessory of your choice

– Hairspray

Energy is a vibrational match, so if  you want love you must be love. We’re all Diamonds on the Inside; when we’re afraid to show others our true selves, we’re withholding love from them and also ourselves. Today shine your light out into the world and show people who you really are. There is much strength and courage in showing your truth and your flaws to another person. You do this by being vulnerable and suspending judgement. When we’re in the flow of being our authentic selves is when people fall in love with us, because we’re loving ourselves and being truly genuine. It’s in this intimate, humble place – this imperfect place, that others see our true beauty.

Life isn’t about staying centered, it’s about how quickly you’re able to return to your center after you’ve been thrown off.  The foundation for this is knowing who you are and trusting in each moment that life is unfolding perfectly; especially when the moments are complicated.  The key is to develop a high tolerance for the unknown; when you have faith in the unknown and accept that change is the only constant, you can relax and let things unfold naturally.   This state of allowing and receiving will minimize struggle and enhance the beauty of each experience, it’s within this unknown space that miracles appear.

the beauty of acceptance…

Outer Beauty:

Nature’s Rescue is like a spa experience for your scalp and hair. You will be addicted to the fresh scent and it leaves your hair feeling clean and luxurious!  This gentle, deep-cleansing, nature-inspired haircare line contains  aloe vera, soy protein and sea algae, which pamper and perfect your natural hair texture; while also being conscious of the environment.  Recommended for all hair types, it’s safe for colour-treated hair and daily use.

Inner Beauty:

We all follow our own path.  There can be no judgement of  who someone else is, only acceptance.  That’s the road to complete freedom in all of your relationships.  When you accept someone for who they are unconditionally; you have the clarity to choose how to respond.  Resisting the present moment or the truth with another person creates worry and stress.  Instead of trying to change someone to fit your picture of who you think they should be, you can respond by being honest about who you are.  There is a quiet beauty and strength in being vulnerable to yourself and another person.  Within this stillness is how we  flourish and grow with ourselves and our communication with others.

This summer it’s all about Rose Gold. The color is both warm and fresh; classic yet unexpected. It looks just as gorgeous on your new chunky watch as it does in dewy, summer makeup—and now it’s ready to grace those lovely locks of yours.

It’s been a hot trend in jewelry and also spotted on the runway last fall and this spring. Now, Rose Gold single-process color and highlights are definitely becoming all the rage in hair color as well.

HOW TO GET IT

So, how does one achieve this honey-meets-strawberry tone?  Ask your colorist to spice up your tresses by alternating a golden or caramel blonde with a light/medium strawberry or blonde highlight.  If you’re ready to go all the way, mix a rose-gold or golden base color with some blonde highlights and see your new color really shimmer.

THE PERFECT PRODUCT

To keep your rose-gold tones looking vibrant, I LOVE one of Kérastase’s newest products—the Huile Céleste Shimmering Protective Mist, part of Kérastase’s summer-ready Soleil line. The Huile Céleste is a lightweight oil mist that protects the hair with UVA and UVB filters.

Hydrating macadamia oil keeps your hair from drying out, and it’s super-light, so your locks won’t go limp. The best feature of all are these amazing little micro-particles that reflect the light. The golden flecks will keep your hair looking incredibly, shiny and enhance your new rose-gold highlights perfectly.

the thick of it…

Outer Beauty:

Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder is the perfect multi-purpose tool for adding texture, absorbing oil and covering gray roots all in one little bottle.  This is essential for giving fine hair matte texture or aiding in updo’s and styles.  A little trick for using hair powder is to spray it back away from your face and not when you’re wearing white (unless you’re using the white powder) because the color may get on your skin or clothes. Here’s how to use it; shake well and spray in sections at the root, next shake hair with your fingers to disperse and voila!  Your hair’s answer to dirtier, thicker hair.  And the genius part is you can use it to conceal your gray in between colors!

Inner Beauty:

What do you do when you’re in the thick of it?  The only way out of the weeds is honest communication.  You have to be honest about who you are and communicate this clearly to other people so they understand who you are too.  The tricky part is knowing how you’re feeling in the moment and expressing it at that time.  Life offers us many defining moments to show people who we truly are, the ability to make good decisions at these times will catapult you into manifesting the life you want to live.

Steven Meisel is an iconic American photographer, who obtained popular acclaim with his work in US and Italian Vogue and his photographs of  his friend Madonna in her 1992 book, Sex. He is now considered one of the most successful fashion photographers in the industry, shooting regularly for both US and Italian Vogue, and W.

One of Meisel’s first jobs was working for fashion designer Halston,as an illustrator; he also taught illustration part-time at Parsons.  He admired photographers like Jerry Schatzberg, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and Bert Stern. He felt illustration was a thing of the past and found photography as a lasting medium. Later, while working at Women’s Wear Daily as an illustrator, he went to Elite Model Management where they allowed him take pictures of some of their models. He would photograph them in his apartment in Gramercy Park or on the street; on weekdays he would work at Women’s Wear Daily and on weekends with the models.

As one of the most powerful photographers in the fashion industry, Meisel is credited with “discovering” or promoting the careers of many successful models, including top models Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Kristen McMenamy, Amber Valletta, Iris Strubegger, Lara Stone, Coco Rocha, Caroline Trentini, Liya Kebede, Karen Elson, Doutzen Kroes, and Raquel Zimmerman, propelling them to fame by regularly featuring them in Vogue and various campaigns, notably Prada and Lanvin.
